St. Oswald’s Lunch Club – CHARI-TREE
We meet every second Thursday of the month (except January & August) at 12.30 in the meeting room of the presbytery. No membership needed, everyone is made very welcome.
Thanks to our 3 musketeers -Agnes, Imelda and Monica, we enjoy a good lunch of homemade soup (3 varieties), a choice of homemade cakes, scones, pastries and trifle along with tea or coffee. We always have a raffle, a good chat and many a laugh. Everyone is most welcome, and thanks to the aforesaid Agnes, Imelda and Monica, we don’t have to do the washing up as they do it all. Very grateful to them we all are too. We give a donation as payment for our lunch and all money received is then put to various charities both home and abroad, as you can see.
Here are some of the charities to which we have donated:-
Mary’s Meals, Friends of Malawi Orphans a.k.a F.O.M.O., Sight Savers, The Smile Train, The H.C.P.T. group, Food Bank, and many more.

Gospel of St. Luke Ch 14. Vs 12-14
Then he said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbours, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
